95 Jahre BABYLON
135 Jahre Charlie Chaplin
On 11 April 1929, the BABYLON opened its doors as a silent film cinema.
We celebrate our 95th Birthday and Charlie Chaplin 135th with a great festival with the best comedies of the silent film era!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLIE! 135! and BABYLON 95!
Neil Brand, demon pianist and Slapstick connoisseur introduces the greatest silent comedies, from the superstars Chaplin, Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Laurel and Hardy and Ernst Lubitsch, to the lesser-known but equally great practitioners like Charley Chase, Raymond Griffith, Mabel Normand, Charlie Bowers, Max Linder and Monty Banks.
Spanning a decade and a half of silent laughter, with features, shorts and thrills combined with hilarity, this is the pick of the greatest silent comedies ever made, accompanied by some of the world's best accompanists including Babylon's own Anna Vavilkina, Meg Morley from London, Daan van den Hurk from Amsterdam and Neil himself.
